Rogue King's Gambit – A Chess-Inspired Roguelike Strategy Game

Rogue King’s Gambit is a turn-based strategy roguelike where you take control of the King, the last surviving piece on the board, as he fights to outmaneuver a relentless wave of enemy chess pieces. With each turn, you must strategically position yourself to survive, gather points, and purchase upgrades while uncovering powerful abilities to shift the battle in your favor.

Gameplay Features:

• Dynamic Movement & Combat:
  Move the King across the 8×8 board using classic chess-adjacent movements. Enemies—including Pawns, Bishops, Rooks, Knights, and Queens—each have unique movement patterns that force you to think ahead and anticipate their attacks. Every defeated enemy grants points, which can be spent on power-ups and upgrades.
• Power-Ups & Special Abilities:
  Gain access to a variety of power-ups that provide strategic advantages:
  • Extra Turn – Move twice before enemies react.
  • Shield – Block incoming damage.
  • Freeze – Immobilize an enemy for 2 turns.
  • Double Move – Temporarily double your movement range.
  • Teleport – Escape to a random safe tile.
  • Explosions, Laser Strikes, Time Warps, and more!
• Skill Progression & Permanent Upgrades:
  Earn points from defeating enemies and spend them in the Shop, located at the four corners of the board (marked with a $ symbol). You can:
  • Upgrade Stats: Increase Speed (moves per turn), Health (damage resistance), or Range (power-up effectiveness).
  • Buy Power-Ups: Collect powerful items to use in battle.
  • Rank Up Power-Ups: Improve the effectiveness of your existing abilities.
• Roguelike Progression & Scaling Difficulty:
  With each new level, the board resets, new enemy formations appear, and the challenge increases. Enemy AI gets more aggressive, and new power-ups become available as you advance. Your points persist even after death, allowing you to grow stronger over time.
